Director, School Operations
POSITION STATUS: Full-Time, 12-month
REPORTS TO: Principal
START DATE: July 1, 2024
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the management of all aspects of Loyola High School’s facilities, security, and food service. The position is also responsible for all aspects of technology and network maintenance as well as management and execution of all technical systems including, but not limited to, telephony, student information systems, Google administration, bell system, and audio-visual devices. These duties and the decision-making authority related to such assignments are as established in the working relationship with the principal.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilities
  • Develop and execute all building maintenance and facility improvement plans based on priorities and resources.
  • Manage building engineer and custodians including but not limited to hours, schedules, priorities, and work performance.
  • Create schedules for projects and workers that are efficient and responsive.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with outside vendors with a strong attention to high return on investment.
Food Service
  • Coordinate and facilitate the execution of food service in collaboration with internal food service employee(s) and vendor(s).
  • Manage communication between food service personnel and school regarding meal schedules, kitchen equipment, and maintenance of the cafeteria.
  • Document and maintain protocols for maintenance and proper use of kitchen equipment as well as all safety systems and relevant inspections.
  • Manage and evaluate any food service support that is provided by school personnel.
Security
  • Develop, evaluate, and enforce security plans and emergency procedures.
  • Execute appropriate drills and testing of security and fire systems.
  • Manage internal and external security officers including scheduling, supervision, and accountability to security protocols.
  • Maintain and enforce security incident reports and bulletins as required.
  • Inform school community and law enforcement regarding security events, as appropriate.
  • Regularly inform and reinforce the school community of security and safety protocols and address violations of protocols with supervisors.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with outside security vendors and resources.
Technology
  • Coordinate and facilitate the efficient, effective, and appropriate use of technology hardware and services.
  • Maintains local area network including, but not limited to, internet connections, performance metrics, printing services, software updates, and hardware functionality.
  • Supports applications and enhances the technical skills of the school community as needed.
  • Manages, administers, and delegates tasks, process, and procedures related to the student information system and related services including, but not limited to, student records management, class scheduling, academic calendar, data harvesting, and internal and external reporting.
  • Manages and maintains the school bell system.
  • Manages, maintains, and supports all classroom technology including but not limited to video displays, teacher laptops, and applicable software.
  • Stays current with computer-based technologies and networks as well as emerging technology and software, especially in the area of education.
  • Facilitates technology and software vendor relationships.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Ability to create, support, and maintain school processes and procedures.
  • Basic understanding of building systems, including boiler heating system.
  • Excellent understanding of security design and protocols to manage and maintain a safe and secure school environment.
  • Strong understanding of, and ability to resolve issues involving, technical infrastructure, networking and computers (primarily WIN and Chrome OS devices).
  • Strong understanding of Google and Microsoft products as well as student information systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and personal demeanor that motivates and manages 5 or more direct reports as well as many vendor relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop timelines and meet deadlines with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Knowledge of Ignatian spirituality and principles of Jesuit education.
  • High enthusiasm for the mission of Loyola High School.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or 2-5 years of experience in related fields and/or school administration.
