Assistant Principal

POSITION STATUS: Full-Time, 10-Month
REPORTS TO: Principal
START DATE: July 1, 2024
POSITION SUMMARY: This leadership role encompasses both administrative responsibilities and a commitment to nurturing the holistic development of our students in alignment with Ignatian values.PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Student Formation: Lead initiatives to foster the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and social growth of students within the Ignatian tradition.
  • Discipline and Behavior Management: Develop and implement strategies to maintain a positive and respectful school culture, ensuring disciplinary policies are fair and consistent, and that processes and measures are in place to support those policies.
  • Student Support Services: Provides support to counseling services, academic support programs, and student wellness initiatives to meet the diverse needs of our students.
  • Student Leadership Development: With assistance from faculty members, creates a framework for student-led organizations and activities (Student Senate, House System, NHS, etc) that teach students leadership, organization and implementation skills.
  • Curriculum and Instruction: Collaborate with Principal & faculty to integrate Ignatian values into curriculum design and instructional practices, promoting a holistic approach to education
  • Professional Development: Collaborate with Principal to provide leadership and support for faculty and staff development in areas related to student formation, classroom management, and Ignatian pedagogy.
  • Community Engagement: Foster partnerships with parents, alumni, and community organizations to support the mission and goals of the school.
  • Administrative Duties: Assist the Principal in day-to-day operations, including scheduling, budgeting, and compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Crisis Management: Serve as a resource and leader in responding to student and community crises, ensuring the well-being and safety of all stakeholders.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Strong understanding of Ignatian pedagogy and commitment to Jesuit values.
  • Excellent interpersonal, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Demonstrated expertise in student formation, discipline, and behavior management.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and data-driven decision-making.
  • High enthusiasm for the mission of Loyola High School.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, or related field (Master’s Degree preferred).
  • Previous experience in educational leadership, preferably in a Jesuit or Catholic school setting.
